Maps
One thing is for sure in New Mexico, there are so many areas that no maps cover… Many roads that go nowhere, those are my kind of roads. However, that being said, many main roads are unmaintained by any city, forest or counties municipalities so please always be prepared to get stuck. Food, water and warm clothing even in the middle of summer. You must also be aware of roads that are closed by the State. For many years roads have been cut throughout for reasons like logging, fire roads, old wagon trails and livestock paths so please tread lightly.. Check areas out on a map or contact us. You don’t want an expensive ticket or even worse, tear up our great state with ATV's, trucks and jeeps…… please respect the land. There are plenty of roads that will get you where you need to go. By the way, stealing signs or saying I never saw any signs, does not work here. It is up to you to know where you are! Now if you’re lost, it’s always better to be tried by twelve than carried by six. A few links below should help you plan any trip…..
Private property exists throughout New Mexico and sometimes land owner say they own the land when in reality it is leased or is BLM land. Better to be safe than sorry. You can always contact a ranger first rather than getting a bullet in the back. Use a GPS, set a waypoint and report violators. Don’t confront without help from law enforcement.. Due to the high cost of ammunition a lot of ranchers and land owners cannot afford to fire a warning shot so please be careful, if you’re not sure turn around and backtrack out.
